The service manual was very usable and clear enough to see the individual values of all of the components (unlike some of the service manuals I have gotten in the past from web sites similar to this one). The price was right and the information was greatly appreciated. It helped me with an otherwise very difficult repair. It was much needed and appreciated. A faster turn around on my order would be nice, but I understand the constraints on your staff's time. Thank you for your service.

Adjusting the sound and picture picture
Adjusting the sound and picture settings
Press SELECT until the item you want to adjust appears.
Selecting a stereo or bilingual program
â¢ If the signal is very weak, the sound becomes monaural automatically. â¢ If the stereo sound is noisy when receiving a NICAM program, select âMONOâ. The sound becomes monaural, however, the noise will be reduced.
Each time you press SELECT, the screen changes as follows:
SOUND MODE + or â SELECT PIC MODE
p KV-J21MN1AK only
PICTURE COLOR BRIGHT
If the sound is distorted or noisy when receiving a monaural program through the Ë (antenna) terminal Press A/B/ENLARGE repeatedly until âMONOâ appears on the screen.
z MONO z AUTO
Press A/B/ENLARGE repeatedly until you receive the sound you want. The on-screen display changes corresponding to the selected sound and the WAKE UP/STEREO indicator also lights up.
Selecting the sound mode
Press SOUND MODE until the mode you want appears.
(Operative for NTSC signal only)
To cancel the monaural sound setting, press A/B/ENLARGE again until âAUTOâ appears on the screen.
â¢ The âMONOâ or âAUTOâ setting is memorized for each program position.
â¢ You cannot receive stereo signal when the TV is in the âMONOâ setting.
Each time you press SOUND MODE, the screen changes as follows:
Emphasize low and high sound effect Emphasize vocals and background music Emphasize huge audience atmosphere Emphasize soft sound
Press + or â to adjust the item.
When receiving a NICAM program

â¢ You can also use SELECT and VOLUME +/â on the TV to adjust the sound and picture settings. â¢ SURROUND is only applicable to a stereo signal. When receiving a monaural signal, please turn off SURROUND for the best sound.

If the picture color is abnormal when receiving programs through the Ë (antenna) terminal
Change the âTV SYSTEMâ (for KV-J21MF1AK/J21MN1AK/ J21MF3 only) or âCOLOR SYSTEMâ setting or adjust the âCOLORâ level in the on-screen display until the color becomes normal.
When receiving an A2 (German) program
Broadcasting On-screen display (Selected sound)
STEREO (Stereo sound) z MAIN (Main sound) z SUB (Sub sound)
If the picture color is abnormal when receiving programs through the video input jack
Change the âCOLOR SYSTEMâ setting or adjust the âCOLORâ level in the on-screen display until the color becomes normal.
A2 (German) stereo A2 (German) bilingual
â¢ Normally set âCOLOR SYSTEMâ to âAUTOâ.
â¢ If you change the picture and sound mode after the following adjustments, the adjustment changes in accordance with the picture and sound mode.
If the sound is distorted or noisy when receiving programs through the Ë (antenna) terminal
Change the âTV SYSTEMâ setting (for KV-J21MF1AK/ J21MN1AK/J21MF3 only) in the on-screen display until the sound becomes clear.
