Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

Turning off the operation beep sound
You can turn off the beep sound that is heard from your headphones/earphones when you operate your CD player.
Turning off the LCDâs backlight
While you are using the rechargeable batteries or dry batteries, the LCDâs backlight turns on for about 5 seconds every time you press a button. However, you can turn off the backlight to save the battery power.
Remove the power source (AC power adaptor, rechargeable batteries or dry batteries) from the CD player. Connect the power source while pressing x/CHARGE on the CD player or x on the remote control for about one second or more.
Remove the rechargeable batteries or dry batteries from the CD player. Insert the batteries while pressing PLAY MODE.
To turn on the beep sound Remove the power source and then connect the power source without pressing x/CHARGE or x.
To turn on the LCDâs backlight Remove the batteries and then insert the batteries without pressing PLAY MODE.
About the LCDâs backlight
The LCDâs backlight is always turned on when using the AC power adaptor.
